Application
This version is suited for applications in which the electronic unit including the evaluation- and control unit will be placed in a secure area while the 1″-screw module of the QVis 01/o will be placed in a potentially explosive area according to zone 1.
Composition
Compared to the QVis 01/o in standard version, all relevant signal paths which are in direct contact with the measuring head of the system have intrinsically safe inputs/outputs. This was achieved by the installation of corresponding certified safety-barriers in the quartz sensor and in the PT 100 temperature sensor. The wiring of the sensor and the intrinsically safe in- and outputs on the one hand, as well as the connection of the digital interface signals 4…20 mA / 0…10 V and the serial data line RS 232 on the other hand, were implemented with the help of a special connector block inside the casing of the electronic unit.

Typ 2: QVis 01/o in explosive-proof version with pressure-proof casing
Application
In addition to the explosive proof 1″-screw module, this version of the viscosimeter QVis also comes along with a pressure-proof electronic unit. Thus the application of the QVis with its combined viscosity / temperature sensor is possible in zone 1, as specified by EExde(ib)IIC T5. The components that were used to achieve safety protection indicated above are certified according to CENELEC, and these certificates have been issued by authorized EU agencies.
Composition
In comparison to the standard QVis, the explosion-proof version is characterized by three essential safety measures:
- Suitable safety barriers have been installed into the signal paths of the quartz sensor and the temperature sensor PT 100
- In addition, the QVis is built into a pressure-proof case
- Furthermore, the sensor signal-paths are wired in a separate connector block compartment which is attached to the pressure-proof compartment; thus the inherent safety is further increased.
Viscosity and temperature signals of the QVis 01/o are transmitted by means of two separate 4…20 mA-lines, which have to be connected to the control room.
