Safety Management Services (SMS) has developed a device that provides additional information used to determine a substance’s thermal sensitivity. The Heat Plate is designed to increase temperature rapidly, transferring a substantial amount of heat into the material in a short period of time. The results can be used to estimate the material’s ignition point and provide understanding about the material’s behavior when subjected to extreme temperature changes. The Heat Plate provides a convenient, safe way to perform an analysis that will help the user plan precautions that should be made while handling or manufacturing the substance.
